What is 304 stainless steel (food grade)?
304 stainless steel (also called AISI 304) is a stainless steel used worldwide in the food and medical industries. Thanks to its combination of corrosion resistance, hygiene, and Its long lifespan makes it perfect for water bottles. This means your dog can always drink clean, fresh, and safe water, wherever you are.
Why no plastic?
Many water bottles are still made of plastic. But this has several drawbacks:
Harmful substances (BPA) : Certain plastics can release substances such as BPA when heated or used for long periods. BPA is known as a hormone disruptor. BPA is a substance that can affect health. In humans, it's linked to reproductive, metabolic, and developmental problems. For dogs, because their bodies are smaller and they often use the same bottle for extended periods, the impact can be relatively greater. Therefore, experts advise avoiding contact with BPA as much as possible.
Microplastics : Research shows that water from plastic bottles can contain hundreds of thousands of nano- and microplastic particles. These particles don't break down in the body, can accumulate in organs, and potentially cause inflammatory reactions. For dogs, this means they unknowingly ingest small amounts of plastic with every sip, and you naturally want to prevent that.
Odors & flavors : Plastic absorbs odors more quickly, which means the water doesn't always taste fresh.

And what about aluminum or glass?
Aluminum : Aluminum drinking bottles are often coated because aluminum itself can react with water. This coating can wear off and become less safe.
Glass : Glass is tasteless and hygienic, but heavy and fragile. It might be handy at home, but not practical while hiking or on vacation.
The Benefits of 304 Stainless Steel for Dogs
A 304 stainless steel water bottle offers the best balance between safety, durability and convenience:
- Hygienic & odorless : The smooth surface is easy to clean and does not absorb odors.
- Tasteless & safe : Water stays pure and fresh, without the risk of BPA or microplastics.
- Strong & durable : Stainless steel lasts for years, is impact-resistant and can withstand a knock or two.
- Environmentally friendly : Stainless steel is fully recyclable and has one of the highest recycling rates of all materials.
- Extra comfort : Double-walled bottles keep water cool for longer. Ideal on hot days.
What should you pay attention to when purchasing?
1. Material : Choose 304 stainless steel (or 316 if you are often at the sea or swimming pool).
2. Caps & Rings : Look for BPA-free caps and silicone sealing rings. This way, you'll still avoid contact with plastic.
3. Insulation : Want cool water? Choose a double-walled version.
4. Cleaning : Wide neck and easy-to-disassemble parts make cleaning easier.
5. Capacity : 500–1000 ml is often perfect for a walk; an integrated drinking bowl can be handy, and a small bowl for some kibble would be ideal.
Always give your dog the best water, wherever you go together.
